Resonator (V6 engine), catalytic converter (four-cylinder engine)
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Raise the vehicle and support it securely on stands. On four-cylinder air-injected models, disconnect the air tube from the catalytic converter.
3. Unscrew the two bolts on the flange that are located immediately behind the drive axle in the block with the gearbox (see figure).
4. Loosen the U-bolt (see illustration) located just behind the resonator (V6) or catalytic converter (four-cylinder).
5. Remove the resonator tube/catalytic converter from the exhaust pipe and remove it.
6. Installation is carried out in reverse order.
Exhaust pipe / muffler
7. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
8. Raise the car and place it on stands.
9. Loosen the nuts on the U-bolt located just behind the resonator on V6 models or behind the catalytic converter on four-cylinder engines (see Figure 15.4).
10. Disconnect the exhaust pipe bracket from the rubber suspension located on the left side of the car, just in front of the left rear wheel (see figure).
11. Disconnect the exhaust pipe bracket from the rubber mount located above and between the two left rear control arms (see illustration).
12. Disconnect the exhaust pipe bracket from the rubber hanger located directly above the muffler (see figure).
13. Remove the exhaust pipe.
14. Installation is carried out in reverse order.
