Interior cleaning

The main materials needed for interior cleaning:
  • lint-free cloths are essential for wet and dry cleaning;
  • brushes for cleaning clothes (for cleaning seat cushions);
  • vacuum cleaner with various nozzles for cleaning upholstery and rugs;
  • finely porous sponges for plastic surfaces;
  • suede for cleaning windows.

SEQUENCE OF WORK

1. Clean up the cabin. Don't forget to clean and wash the ashtrays.

Fold the floor mats with the dirty side inward and take them out, shake, beat or vacuum.

2. Wash the rubber mats. The bottom surfaces of the floor mats do not dry very well in the cabin. The damp bottom of the rug can cause odors and stains on the upholstery. Therefore, dry the mats outside the car.

3. Remove coarse dirt from the passenger compartment with a vacuum cleaner. For soft textile upholstery, use hard nozzles; clean plastic surfaces with brush nozzles. Smooth rubber parts can be wiped with a damp cloth.

4. Remove large dirt particles with a vacuum cleaner. For soft and hard textile upholstery, use the appropriate vacuum cleaner attachments. Wipe the smooth rubber floor with a damp cloth.

5. Clean the seat upholstery with a brush or vacuum cleaner. Wipe synthetic surfaces with a damp cloth. Dust from inaccessible corners and folds is removed with a brush.

6. Clean the seat belts with a dry brush. If heavily soiled, clean the belts with a mild soap solution.

7. Wipe the plastic surfaces and instrument panel with a damp suede (pic. 3.1). Never use gasoline or other solvents for this - the plastic surface may become stained or warped. Use cleaners for plastic surfaces. Then rinse the treated surfaces with clean water and dry with a cloth. For regular cleaning, a mild, grease-removing cleaner diluted in warm water is sufficient.

Comprehensive cleaning includes cleaning the interior ceiling

8. The ceiling of the passenger compartment, most often a figured part covered with textile upholstery, is cleaned only when heavily soiled. The cleaning agent is always applied to a large area of the ceiling. Then it is wiped with a sponge and a terry cloth.

9. If necessary, repeat the operation again. Never clean only dirty areas, otherwise there will be stains with sharply defined edges.

Pic. 3.2. Applying a cleaning foam to the surface and spreading it with a damp cloth to clean the upholstery and remove small particles of dirt, dust and fresh stains. When cleaning, do not rub too hard, otherwise the dirt particles will be pressed into the fabric again. Follow the product instructions for use

10. Seat upholstery and upholstery textile inserts are treated with a foaming cleaner (pic. 3.2). While the upholstery is wet, vacuum it thoroughly - this is the best way to remove dirt. Leather seats are treated only with special leather care products, high-quality products give the skin elasticity, and the seams - flexibility.

Pic. 3.3. Applying a silicone-containing agent to the rubber door seals. Constant monitoring and maintenance of products containing silicone significantly extend their service life, replacement of seals is very expensive

11. Rubber door seals must be treated with silicone rubber care products (pic. 3.3).

12. The inner sides of the glass are pre-cleaned with damp suede, then treated with a cleaning agent. Polish the glass to a shine with a kitchen towel or newsprint. If you often smoke in the car, then even after cleaning you can notice a gray coating on the windows. In this case, a special polish will help. Do not allow drops of the product to fall on the plastic surface - hard-to-remove or non-washable stains may remain.

Special car care products - primarily for interior cleaning

For interior cleaning, it is best to use special tools. Eliminate soapy water and kitchen cleaners: windows, seats and upholstery are exposed to a lot of dust, dirt and moisture, which are easier to remove with specially designed products. Special care products are not cheap, but the quality is worth the money paid for them.

PRACTICAL ADVICE

Interior cleaning and care products

Plastic cleaners - designed for surfaces made of artificial materials. Cleans and refreshes the color of plastic, gives it a shine and removes static charge. Protects surfaces from dirt and dust for a long time.

Textile cleaners - are intended for pillows, rugs, upholstery of doors and salon. Reliably remove dirt and dust. Refreshes the color of the upholstery material. Many cleaners are able to remove even stubborn dirt.

Glass cleaners - (also foam cleaners) remove even stubborn dirt, such as insect marks, nicotine, oil stains, etc. Suitable for all glass surfaces and not suitable for paint surfaces.

Rubber care products - (silicone-containing) designed for sealing doors, windows and luggage compartment, as well as for floor mats. They keep the rubber elastic, prevent it from hardening and keep the color fresh.

Aerosol that prevents the formation of plaque on the glass, preserves the cleaned glass for several days or weeks (depending on the weather). The aerosol applied to the glass forms a layer of foam after a few minutes, which must be removed with a dry paper towel. Plaque wipes or window sponges play a supporting role.
